Child and Adolescent Psychology

Parenting is a hard gig, and sometimes the wheels fall off.

Maybe there has been a divorce or the death of a loved one, and things have gotten tricky.  Perhaps you're unsure what to do with the little kid (or the big one) standing in front of you who often seems sad or angry or in a never-ending meltdown.

Being a kid or a teen is also a hard gig: bullying, school anxiety, struggling to make friends, depression, self-harm and trauma.

Child psychologists exists because children and teens can struggle with life, transitions (new sibling, starting school), developmental milestones and mental health, just as adults struggle. Children and teens are trying to navigate the world and their big feelings without the life skills, emotional regulation or cognitive ability that adults have.

Child psychology is concerned with a child or teen's social, emotional, cognitive and social development, helping them develop and grow in healthy and adaptive ways. Child psychologists can help you understand your child or teen, learn how best to communicate with him/her/they, and navigate tricky parenting obstacles. Psychologists can help children or teens to manage their emotions and mental health, challenge some faulty thinking and navigate school, friends and family.

Socials

"Enter into children's play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts and souls meet"
