You do not require a referral to see a psychologist. However, if you would like to receive Medicare rebates ($129.55 per session), you will need a Better Access Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. You will initially be eligible for a rebate for 6 sessions. Subject to a GP review, 10 rebated sessions are available within a calendar year.
A standard session runs for 50 minutes.
The cost of each session is $240. Credit card payments are processed on the day of the session through ‘PowerDiary’, our secure calendar/administration program. Your credit card is securely stored to ensure this process is seamless. If you have a valid referral from your GP, Medicare rebates are available and will be processed for you.
The session cost for Family Court-ordered clients is $300 due to additional administrative and clinical requirements.
You will need to contact your private health fund and ask them if they cover Clinical Psychology, as each policy and insurance provider differs. If your insurance does cover you, we will provide you with a receipt to take to your insurer to claim the rebate.
Please note you cannot claim Medicare and insurance rebates in the same session.
You will be charged a $150 cancellation fee if you provide less than 24 hours (or on Friday for a Monday appointment) notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. The full session fee will be charged if you fail to attend your appointment without notice. We suggest if you are unable to make an appointment face-to-face, that you organise a phone or video session rather than cancel or reschedule. Unfortunately, you are unable to claim Medicare or health insurance rebates on non-attended sessions.
